Aunt Matilda actually briefly considered a career as a journalist many years ago. Fascinated by lore surrounding mermaids she decided to write her first piece on them. She traveled to a far away icy tundra village to meet with a man that she had heard
communicated with mermaids. Aunt Matilda actually interviewed this man for 6 days and wrote 38 pages based on his interview before she exhaustedly left his cabin and traveled to a local inn to rest. On arrival she learned that in fact the man she was interviewing had never left the cabin in question in his life and was quite touched in the head from an excess of drink. After realizing the she had believed every word from a raving addled lunatic she quietly and embarrassedly gave up on the dream of journalism forever. She hung this cast iron mermaid wall hanging in her home for many years as an inside joke to friends and family who knew the story.
