This Lizette Black Velvet Jacket was an amazing gift the spectacular author Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1868, which is the year that she became one of the first editors of Hearth & Home magazine! Aunt Matilda uncovered the fact that Mrs. Stowe was the actual person behind the pen name Christopher Crowfield about a decade before. She felt the work "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was spectacular and had to write her to congratulate such a feat. They became pen pals shortly after that and Harriet had this Lizette Black Velvet Jacket made for my aunt for first time they met in person!
